Iggy plopped onto the couch with perfect accuracy. It was no wonder the Flock sometimes forgot the teen was blind; the way he moved was almost like he could see.
After a few days of being in one place, he had the lay of the land memorized.
Of course the first few days were always rough, and he usually came out of it with large, dark bruises
if not worse.
So, at first, Iggy would stick to Fang, following the tall, quiet boy by hooking onto Fang's belt.
Iggy sighed softly. What would you do if you found out how I really feel for you
Iggy's love for Fang was not brotherly, not even close. He felt random desires to touch Fang, to see him the only way Iggy ever would.
Fang was Iggy's best friend. Their crates had been beside each other from day one. Fang's worried face had been Iggy's last, good, sight. The very last had been doctors wearing masks and holding scalpels above him while Iggy drifted into unconsciousness.
He still had nightmares about it, and when he did he would thrash and cry out.
Since they shared a room, Fang would be the one to calm Iggy. First Fang would wake him up, now he just lay next to Iggy and held him while whispering soft, comforting words.
Despite the nightmares, Iggy loved waking up in Fang's arms listening too,
it's okay, Iggy, I'm here, you're safe, I won't let anybody hurt you."
The feel Fang's body next to his, Fang's fingers combing through his pale, sandy blonde hair, their combined body heat
Iggy always just snugglies against his black winged love, comforted by Fang's mere presence.
When Fang held him, Iggy noticed that It was brighter.
It was a thread
It was tied around Iggy's pinky and It led to Fang. It always led to Fang. No one else could see It or feel It, they never could. But Iggy could sense It, he could feel It, he could "feel" It's color.
It had always been there and Iggy had never tried to remove it
because it was tied to Fang's pinky on the other end.
It never broke, never frayed, It was invisible to everyone but him
the blind one.
Iggy played with the thread absently, twirling it around his arm and then untwirling it.
A small footstep and then the opening and closing of a door alerted him to someone entering the room.
The smell of lilac body spray and lavender shampoo gave Nudge away instantly.
"Hey Iggy, guess what I found online! There's a really cool ancient Japanese myth about something called the 'String of Fate'. Wanna hear it?
So apparently everybody has this red thread to their pinky and the thread is tied to another person on the other end and that person is like supposed to be your 'one true love' and you guys are like meant to be together. Sounds cool right? Except the String is invisible so no one can like follow it. I thought it was pretty epic myth and I
are you okay?"
Nudge continued on about how Iggy "didn't look so good maybe we should get Max" but he didn't hear much else.
His heart raced and he could only think about one thing.
does this mean?
His brain couldn't complete anything.
"Oh hey Fang! Will you please ask Iggy to respond to me? I'm worried he's
"Nudge, I need to talk to Iggy
alone." Fang's quiet, calm voice brought Iggy out of his trance and pushed Nudge out of the room.
what's wrong?" Fang asked.
"NOTHING! I am totally okay. I am good to go. Um
I'm going to go to -er- build a bomb or something similar to said explosive
!" Iggy jumped up, wanting desperately to escape.
"Iggy. Sit down and stop lying to me."
Fang's voice carried cool authority so Iggy did as told, even though his "Flight" response was making his wings itch.
"Now," Fang knelt in front of Iggy, "What's wrong?"
"I can't tell you." Iggy whispered.
"You'll hate me, you'll never speak to me again."
"I'll what? Iggy, that's not possible. I could never hate you . Please. It hurts me that you don't trust me enough to tell me why you're so upset."
Iggy could hear it, the pain that made Fang's voice slightly choked and gave it a tone of pleading. How could he deny what Fang was begging him for?
I'm in love. But it's complicated. You see he won't ever love me back. Not the same way." Iggy explained.
"I'm sure he loves you just as
He? Igs you're
"Gay. I'm gay, very gay, actually I'm pretty sure that a double rainbow and that guy from Bleach can't top how gay (or awesome) I am
"Wow I never thought you swung that way." Fang was quiet for a moment. "So who is he?"
er-I mean- fuck."
What the hell was I thinking?! Iggy mentally slapped, himself.
Me? Fang thought, surprised. Iggy's crush is me
Thinking back, it made sense, Iggy didn't know that many guys and he trusted Fang more than anyone.
"You hate me don't you?" Iggy was close to tears. He dropped his head and closed his eyes against the tears threatening to spill over. "I'm sorry, Fang, just forget about it, okay?"
Iggy raised his head,
"No. I won't forget about it. And I don't hate you."
"You're my best friend, how could I hate you for something like this? This is who you are, I can't change that, you can't change that, so there's no point in worrying about it. There's nothing wrong with being gay, Iggy, and I accept it. I accept you. I wouldn't change anything about you
unless I could magically give you your sight back that is."
Fang and Iggy chuckled a bit, before Fang continued.
"If I didn't have you in my life I would have lost it years ago. You've always stood by me, you've always done everything you could for me. I'm not going to throw away years of friendship just because you're you. Iggy, you're my best friend and maybe
maybe something more."
I think that was the longest speech you've ever made in your life." Iggy teased.
"All of that, all heartfelt emotion. Me baring my soul to you and that's your reply." Fang smiled and shook his head. "I love you, Iggy."
"I love you too, Fang."
"Good. Now hold still, I want to try something."
Iggy felt Fang's hands gently cupping his face. His head tilted upwards and he could sense Fang getting closer. His body was tingly, and he shook slightly. His breathing became shallow and fast, wavering with anticipation.
Is he going to kiss me? Is Fang really going to kiss me?
Fang's breath skated across Iggy's lips, hot and inviting. Their lips touched the others, so slightly that Iggy barely felt it, even with his senses in hyper drive.
Fang finally brought their mouths together. He kissed slowly, experimenting, testing the taste and feel of Iggy's lips against his. Gradually the kiss deepened, growing fierce with passion.
Iggy wrapped his arms around Fang's neck, pressing himself close to his (hopeful) lover.
Fang moved up, forcing Iggy to submit, before knotting his hands in Iggy's hair and straddling him.
They kissed heatedly, not holding back, lost in a haze.
"WHAT THE FUCK ARE YOU TWO DOING!!???"
They both snapped out of their trance and looked towards the door.
Hi, Max." Fang greeted, nervously.
It's exactly what it looks like." Iggy said, shrugging.
"Yeah, pretty much." Fang agreed.
"LOOK! I DON'T CARE WHO YOU GUYS MAKE OUT WITH! YOU COULD BE DATING SASQUATCH FOR ALL I CARE! FOR FUCK'S SAKE! ANGEL IS ONLY TEN YEARS OLD! SHE DOES NOT NEED TO BE SEEING YOU TWO PRACTICALLY FUCKING ON THE COUCH!"
Fang rolled his eyes,
"Yeah yeah, we get it. We won't do it again." he said, sarcastically. He entwined his fingers with Iggy's. "Come on, and thank whatever god that'll listen that we don't share a room with the Gasman."
Iggy nodded, still a little confused, but extremely happy.
He could hear Max raging in the living room, but he didn't care, he had his Fang after all.
"Fang, have you ever heard of the String of Fate?"
